About the Campus Ombuds
Suzy Rosen Singleton is the first Ombuds on campus, and by her hire in January 2008, the Ombuds office has been launched in order to provide an informal, confidential, neutral, and independent conflict management resource for the campus community.
Prior to serving as the campus Ombuds, she practiced disability law for fifteen years. Her life has been dedicated to promoting fairness in processes and equitable resolutions for deaf and hard of hearing individuals, their families, and their colleagues.
Her academic years included two years at Gallaudet University before graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, and a Juris Doctor from the UCLA School of Law.
Her professional experiences include serving as a specialist for the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services (OSERS) for the U.S. Department of Education as well as the Legal Counsel for Government Affairs for the National Association of the Deaf (NAD).
She is a member of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA), the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), the District of Columbia Bar, and the Dispute Resolution section of the American Bar Association (ABA).
